Issues Involving Sidewalks or Streets

Below is an excerpt from IRES/Emerald Landing from a series of emails going back several years (2014) of frustrated efforts from them reaching out to city agencies for help. This one incident starting in April 15. 2021 . This is just one of many examples of issues this business has faced.

Update as of this morning (Thursday 15th) when I pulled in.  There are a half dozen or so campers/motorhomes that have now constructed some sort of illegal structure behind themselves ON the pathway.  There is a bunch or lumber & plywood & PVC piping illegally dumped on the pathway as well as a utility trailer filled with what looks like miscellaneous building materials.  I would have taken photos but there were quite a few not so approachable male characters busy moving all around the area and I did not feel comfortable having them see me doing so.

THIS IS A DISCUSTING MESS.  Something needs to be done ASAP!  There is literally a ton of garbage illegally scattered around including old propane bottles, car batteries, shopping carts, clothing, blankets, plastic jugs, tires, big black bags filled with who know what.  There are electrical cords strung everywhere.  I am very fearful these issues will start to migrate across the street on to our property.  THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE and my employees and customers are scared of the area and have NO WHERE to park!  These vehicles are not “backed in angle parked”, they are illegally on the pathway, sideways parked, some forward pulled in (not backed in), ALL of which are illegal and things my employees have received citations for in the past!  This is ludicrous! I cannot stress enough how much this needs to be addresses as soon as possible because it is growing into a larger problem each and every day.

Due to continued frustrations, an email was sent to the Mayor of Seattle asking for help which included this: We have taken the steps those at the city level have directed to us by contacting the Department of Transportation, Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Police Department, and Find It, Fix It, but to no avail. What is next for us to provide a safe environment for our tenants, employees, and residents?
